On Independence Day, 19 More Children from Zaporizhzhia Went on a Hike to Hoverla and Nesamovyte Lake

From August 23 to 28, another 19 children from front-line Zaporizhzhia went on a hike through the Carpathians.

On Independence Day, August 24, 2025, the group arrived at the Zaroslyak base, located at an altitude of 1300 m at the foot of Hoverla. On this "summer" day, the weather was almost winter-like, and the children saw snow.

The next day, we set out to the top of the highest mountain in Ukraine. The weather was quite cool, but there was no rain. 15 children reached the summit, while the others reached the so-called Small Hoverla, or Hoverlyanka, at about 1750 m. The ascent was a very important event for the children — it combined experiencing the grandeur of the mountains, physical activity, and testing their willpower.

The following day we went to Nesamovyte Lake — 7 km from the Zaroslyak base. The most active children went further, to the picturesque and impressive Shpytsi rocks, 1.5 km from the lake.

On the third day, those who wished could rest, play football, sit by the fire, while part of the group went on a new trip to the Hoverlyansky waterfall and the beautiful plateau near the Prut River.

We are grateful to all donors, guides, and foundation staff, thanks to whom this summer we introduced over 100 IDP children and residents of the front-line city to the mountains and nature of the Carpathians. It is hard but very important work, providing unforgettable experiences for the children!

We have many plans for the development of the “Klyubok” tourist program in the coming months, including weekend hikes and longer trips. Therefore, your support is very important —
