Adem Chyra, born on 14.01.2020
Diagnosis: Autism spectrum disorder, delayed psycho-speech development.
Report on received and spent donations
Adem is a six-year-old boy with autism spectrum disorder. He eats only a few familiar foods, makes eye contact only with people he trusts, and spends most of his time in his own special world.
Until the age of four, Adem did not speak at all and did not understand spoken language. He was nearby, but as if in another dimension. After the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the family evacuated to Poland, but there the boy did not receive the help he needed, so his mother decided to return to Zaporizhzhia to continue working on her son’s development at home.
For two years, Adem has been working with specialists every day and receiving medical treatment. During this time, he has significantly improved his self-care skills, started responding to adults, and partially understanding spoken language. His first words and phrases have appeared. But difficulties remain: anxiety, emotional instability, and limited language comprehension. It is difficult for Adem to interact with a world that often seems loud and confusing. Continuous therapy is especially important for children with ASD — even a one-week break may lead to the loss of part of the achieved progress.
That is why rehabilitation must be continuous. Right now, Adem needs another course of sessions costing 22 450 hryvnias (approximately 530 US dollars) to consolidate his progress and take the next step toward independence.
Please support Adem. Every contribution is real help on his path to the world he is only beginning to understand.
