Oleksii Velkyi

There is always life in the home of Oleksii and his mother Olha—friends and relatives visit, and sometimes they go visiting themselves. Olha does everything she can to ensure her son is not isolated from society: every day she tries to take him “out into the world”—to playgrounds, themed events, or simply for walks in crowded places.

Oleksii has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy, epilepsy, and delayed psychomotor development. Thanks to the support of caring people, the family has managed to undergo several rehabilitation courses—first at the "Sovenia" center in Zaporizhzhia and later at the "Ioanniv Center" in Dnipropetrovsk region. Twice a week, a social teacher visits the boy, and his mother works with him diligently every day at home.

Despite the military aggression in 2022, the family remained in Zaporizhzhia. In 2023, thanks to the joint project "Finding the Keys to Oleksii" on the dobro.ua platform, they were able to fund one of the rehabilitation courses.

Oleksii is now 10 years old. This is a crucial period—a time of rapid growth and hormonal changes, so rehabilitation requires an even more sensitive and individualized approach. This year, the boy completed the second grade. He enjoys learning, fairy tales, music, and educational cartoons. The biggest achievement is that he pronounced the word "Mama" for the first time, despite the pessimistic forecasts of the doctors.

To continue the progress, the family needs to raise 50,000 UAH (approximately 1,210 USD) — for two rehabilitation courses, special nutrition, and hygiene products.
