Slow but Noticeable Progress!

July 22, 2013, 10:00 4464 Author: Maria Semashkina, translated by Anya Gvozdyeva www.deti.zp.ua The works on the nets in Kalinovka have been completed, and last Friday the roofing of the second “Happy Home” was started

Construction work in Kalinovka has been ongoing for some time and the roofing began this Friday. The roofing nets have already been prepared for that. What is worth mentioning is that the construction work has not only been performed by workers but also by some of the orphans.

This week the metal tiles, metalware and timber for the roofing were purchased. Last Friday five workers began the roofing work. In around 2-3 weeks’ time the second "Happy Home" will have a roof!

The next stage of the construction work which must be completed includes construction of sewers, heating system and plumbing. According to the preliminary calculations just the construction staff’s wages will total UAH 20,000 (2,500 US dollars) and the cost of materials will be UAH 30,000 (3,750 US dollars).

We are asking you to support this project once again and help nine children and maybe adults with special needs, too, to realise the dream of living in their own house, experience the cosiness and warmth of family life which most of us had all our lives.

We are truly grateful to our sponsors in the UK, the USA and Ukraine for their financial support of the second “Happy Home” and we’re confident that if we unite our efforts, we can finish the construction in the near future. Thank you all!
