The Verkhovna Rada demands that decisive steps be taken immediately to protect Ukrainian citizens
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine proposes to appeal to the United Nations on the inadmissibility of adoption of abducted Ukrainian children into Russian families.
The relevant draft resolution has been registered in parliament.
This is a draft resolution on the Verkhovna Rada's appeal to the UN Human Rights Committee, the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, the UN International Court of Justice in The Hague, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees on violations of international treaties and conventions by the Russian Federation and forcibly deported to the aggressor state, other countries or within the occupied territories of Ukraine, in the family of Russian citizens (№7450).
In its appeal, the Verkhovna Rada calls for urgent steps to protect Ukrainian citizens in order to prevent the transfer of these children abducted and forcibly deported to the aggressor state, other countries or within the occupied territories of Ukraine for adoption in the family of Russian citizens; return of children to the territory controlled by Ukraine.
The explanatory note to the draft resolution states that, ignoring all norms of international law, Russia forcibly deported "millions of Ukrainian citizens, including children, including orphans and children deprived of parental care."
Deportation of Ukrainian children:
On April 14, 2022, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine calls on international organizations to take measures to return children deported by Russia to Ukraine.
According to the Foreign Ministry, in this context, the information about the intention of the Russian Ministry of Education to sign "agreements" with the Russian occupation administrations in Donetsk and Luhansk regions - the so-called "L / DNR" - would allow the transfer of illegally deported children from Ukraine orphans in Russian families.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine addressed the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, the International Committee of the Red Cross, UNICEF, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, UN Secretary-General on Children in Armed Conflict and Violence against Children with a request to take urgent measures to return Ukrainian children to our country.
