Artem is now almost 4 years old, and his parents are celebrating his first real achievements! The little boy has learned to sit, crawl, get on all fours, and is gradually learning to stand with support. He knows colors, shapes, can count to ten, and forms sentences. Most importantly, he has started eating soft solid food on his own.
Since Artem was unable to eat independently, and his body was not receiving enough nutrients, in the fall of 2022, doctors decided to place a gastrostomy tube. Currently, part of his nutrition still comes through it.
Artem loves going to his grandparents' country house. He enjoys sitting on his grandfather’s lap and helping steer along the country roads. There, he is eagerly awaited by three local cats, lots of toys, and a swimming pool. He can’t wait for the warmer weather, as he doesn’t like staying indoors for long.
For now, Artem rides his bicycle in the yard and plays with his collection of toy cars. Cars are his true passion! He loves both small toy cars and real automobiles. Every evening, he eagerly waits for his dad to come home from work so they can go to the amusement park and ride the cars together.
For normal physical development, acquiring self-care skills, and adapting to solid food, Artem needs the help of specialists.
The family has already started working with rehabilitation therapists at the SMART Medical Center for Rehabilitation and Development, and the first positive results have appeared. However, regular sessions are necessary for further progress.
Artem’s parents are seeking help to cover the cost of one rehabilitation course, which consists of 10 sessions with a physical rehabilitation therapist, a speech therapist, and a massage therapist. The total cost of the course is 21,000 UAH (approximately $510 USD). The sessions are scheduled to begin in March.
We would be grateful for your support!
