Three-year-old Anya and Danylo are twins who were born prematurely at the 35th week of pregnancy. This affected their physical development, which currently does not match age-appropriate norms.
Since 2022, Anya and Danylo, along with their parents and older sister, relocated from the Kuybyshev district to Zaporizhzhia. There, the children started attending specialized centers for correctional activities.
Anya has valgus deformity of the knee joints, deformity of the lower legs, speech impairments, and astigmatism. She can name a few colors, recognize some shapes, and count to five. However, her speech development does not yet match her age. At this time, Anya uses only a few incomplete words to communicate.
Danylo faces more significant challenges. His primary diagnosis is a congenital anomaly of the right upper limb – underdevelopment of the right forearm and the absence of a hand. Despite his physical limitations, Danylo is a sociable and friendly boy who loves physical activities. However, due to the instability of his mental development, he is easily influenced by external factors. Even minor distractions can draw his attention away, and frequent emotional shifts quickly tire him, causing him to become fussy.
Since birth, the twins have been undergoing rehabilitation with specialists at the local children’s hospital. However, due to long waiting times for free services, the family has been forced to seek alternative facilities.
The children’s mother approached us for assistance in continuing sessions with a physical rehabilitation specialist, a speech therapist, and a correctional educator. The cost of a three-month course for both children is 42,000 UAH (approximately 1,020 USD).
