On January 27, 2017, the Happy Child charity Fund and the Embassy of Japan to Ukraine signed an agreement in Kyiv. Under this agreement, the Embassy of Japan, as part of its Kusanone Program (which provides grant funding for projects related to human safety), will provide 57,954 USD which will be used to purchase medical equipment for the Zaporozhye oblast tuberculosis hospital. The Agreement was signed by Albert Pavlov, president of the Happy Child Fund, and Shigeki Sumi, Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine.

In addition, on January 30, 2017 the NATO Staff Center in Brussels, Belgium, hosted an award ceremony for the winners of the NATO Charity Bazaar ASBL. The Happy Child Charity Fund project, dedicated to the refurbishment of medical equipment at the Zaporozhye oblast Children’s Hospital, took second place among 25 competing nominations. The project received a grant worth 7,472.60 Euro. Charity fund representatives from 15 European countries were recognized and received awards. Ukraine was represented at the ceremony by Happy Child Charity Fund’s Roman Kirchenko and under-secretary of Ukraine’s Mission to NATO Ella Varitska.

Last year, Happy Child Charity Fund’s website was recognized as the most transparent online internet resource by the Ukrainian Charities Forum. In part due to this level of transparency, our fund has already received 28 000 USD of donations in 2017, while during 2016 our supporters donated 407 193 USD.

Our fund works in a systematic way on several initiatives, including providing support to sick children (including those suffering from cystic fibrosis), providing equipment to children’s hospitals, helping orphans find new families and supporting their adaptation, the Happy Village project for orphans and handicapped children in Zaporozhye oblast, inclusive tourism and education for orphans, handicapped and underprivileged children (Klubok club), and assisting internally displaced people from Donbas.

The Happy Village eco-settlement is our priority project for 2017. In addition to the four already functioning Happy Home 5, we are aiming to open the fifth one and have already started the selection process for the adoptive family.
