Let There Be a Shower!

November 22, 2014, 18:50 1769 Author: Albert Pavlov, translated by Daria Sukach deti.zp.ua We really need your financial support in equipping the shower cabin of “Rekhovof” camp in Zaporizhzhia for displaced persons fleeing the danger and destruction of the war in Luhansk and Donetsk!

There are more than thirty displaced people with children staying in the Christian camp called “Rekhovof” which is located in Velikiy Lug district in Zaporizhzhia. Although this camp is not adapted for cold seasons, one of its buildings was provided with heat insulation for staying there in wintertime.

There is a message from Elena Scherbakova, the camp coordinator:

“The shower cabin as well as bedroom buildings need a thorough reconstruction after ages of negligence. Our church can hardly maintain the reconstruction works with its little funds. We have already connected the electricity in the shower cabin, almost installed pipes and cleared a huge catchpit. However, we still need to repair the roof, install windows and the door, renovate one of the walls, which was earlier destroyed due to severe frosts. Besides, we need to insulate the walls with foam plastic, install a hot water heating system in the floors and do some renovation inside the building. We would appreciate your kind support! May God bless you!”

I’d like to stress that in peaceful times the camp is actively used for events for people with special needs. It has been a place for summer camps for children and grownups with disabilities.
