=====================================

When Valeria Shumak was born and appeared in the family, her parents’ joy had no bounds, the girl was brought up and given all the best as she was so positive like the sun in the gray everyday routine of a needy family. Despite all hardships Valeria’s mother had to face, she knew that above all was that her daughter was healthy, and the rest was not so important and she was sure together they would be able to handle it. But 11 years later the family hit the bad patch, which neither Anna nor Valeria has been able to fix for the last 3 years.

In 2010, when Valeria was 11 years old, she showed the first signs of scoliosis, which became very noticeable and the girl’s health deteriorated. She was diagnosed with scoliosis and the treatment was prescribed. Doctors told her to wear a corset, have massages and recommended "to wait for some improvement to come". The weeks went by, Valeria grew up but no improvement was observed.

In 2012, the girls’ spine turn angle was no longer 20 degrees but it was 50 degrees. At this stage Valeria has got a progressive form of scoliosis – the angle of spine turn is 72 degrees.

Valeria’s back started to form a hump and, as a result, the girl has difficulties with breathing. On December 4th, 2013, Valeria’s mother brought her home since the treatment has not been successful, and the girl requires urgent surgery on installation the implant along the whole spine.

Valeria’s mother has found a specialist who gave her hope and is willing to do the operation. He only gave them time to raise funds. Every day counts...

The girl suffers every minute. According to the official statement of the experts of Institute of Spine Pathology named after Professor M.I. Sitenko, where the operation is supposed to be conducted, the operation was needed yesterday. Valeria can be saved. It’s a matter of money. The cost of this operation is 80,000 hryvnyas (9,300 US dollars), and the implant is 37,000 hryvnyas (4,300 US dollars).

Valeria’s disabled mom desperately gleans money painstakingly little by little to save her child.

There is nothing worse than seeing your child suffering and not being able to help.

Unfortunately, money talks! Fortunately, there is still a chance!

We are asking you to help raise the necessary funds for the operation and the implant. This family has neither support nor rich relatives; all they’ve got is good heart and hope that we will give them a hand!

The family lives in the town of Kamenka-Dneprovska, the Zaporizhzhia region.
