In the early morning of 02.02.2013 ten children from Gulyaipole orphanage and ten children from Zaporizhzia boarding school # 3 arrived in the capital of Ukraine.
Their first impressions were those of the subway: children were thrilled by the moving staircases. We took the train to Arsenalna station where volunteer Alexandra joined us.
And this is where our walking excursion around Kiev started. The children went to see the Park of Glory, then walked down to Kiev Pechersk Lavra and were taken to see the near caves. After that they were invited to have warm tea and enjoy pastries at the monastery canteen. Upon this, we went to Postal Square and took a funicular to go up a steep slope.
There we had a walk around the Independence Square. After dinner the children felt full and refreshed, so we went on with our excursion. We walked down Khreschatyk and made our way to the Arch of People’s Friendship, where we could enjoy an all-around view of Kiev.
Then we took the children to the Museum of Water. After that children from Gulyaipole orphanage still had vigor to go on, so they went to the puppet theatre to see "Puss in Boots". It was the last item of our plan for the day, so we took leave of Kiev and made our way to the railway station. And while sitting on the train on our way home, we drank tea and happily shared our joy and impressions.
We want to give our thanks to Alexandra and Danila, our friends from Kiev, who kindly accompanied us and helped us show the children various attractions of Kiev.
