deti.zp.uaDue to acquired immunodeficiency, Zakhar often gets sick. In addition to medication, he needs regular MRI scans of his internal organs and blood tests.
Zakhar is 17 years old. Since childhood, he has loved animals, and his best friend is a dog named Chucky. His love for our four-legged friends shaped his dream — to become a veterinarian. To pursue it, he enrolled in a veterinary college, where he is now in his second year of study. At the same time, Zakhar continues his music classes at school, learning guitar and piano. He also dreams of flying in an airplane and traveling to faraway places. Unfortunately, because of his health issues, these dreams are still on hold.
Our support for Zakhar’s family began when he was only 5 years old. At that time, we helped cover the cost of a brain MRI, which revealed vascular enlargement in the left temporal lobe. Since then, he has been under the care of a neurologist and regularly undergoes check-ups.
Seven years ago, Zakhar suffered from infectious mononucleosis. He developed a high fever, and his lymph nodes became swollen. A CT scan revealed an enlarged lymph node in the mediastinum and changes in the liver. Later, doctors diagnosed him with lymphadenopathy. Once again, we supported the boy by helping with examinations and treatment.
The year 2022 was particularly difficult. Due to Russian aggression, many Ukrainians lost their jobs, and Zakhar’s family was no exception: the factory where his mother worked temporarily shut down. Around the same time, another CT scan showed enlargement of the mediastinal lymph node. With his weakened immune system, his nails began to crumble, and his teeth started falling out. This led to major expenses again, and outside support became essential.
Because of his acquired immunodeficiency, Zakhar often falls ill. Each year, he requires MRI scans of his internal organs and blood tests. The results of these examinations determine his further treatment and supportive therapy.
In a family where it’s just mother and son, it is impossible to overcome all these challenges alone. Please support Zakhar — together, we can give him the chance for a healthy future!
