Lilia Timofeeva lived with her 7 adopted children in the small village of Ukrainka, Vasylivsky District, Zaporizhzhia Region. The "Children's ecovillage" project of the Foundation "Happy Child" and a safe space for foster children was created. During the three years that the family lived in Ukrainka, Lilia was able to take in an additional 4 former orphans, including Sashka, who was only one year old at that time. Lilia and the children managed to fall in love with this place and the house, pets appeared, children and adults together planted trees and grew vegetables in the garden. Little by little, the surrounding area was improved, a small swimming pool appeared, a children's playground, house of the Moomins.
But everything changed on February 24, 2022. The Russian invaders reached Ukrainka very quickly, and fighting began around it. From the first days of March 2022, the village was occupied, and the Russian fascists set up camp right in the landing around the house. Soldiers could enter the house in the middle of the night, there was a constant feeling of danger. Russian equipment broke trees in the Children's Eco Village, and often opened fire from Grady on Ukrainian positions directly from the territory of the village.
It was no longer possible to tolerate it, and in the summer of 2022, Lilia and her children were able to leave via Vasylivka to Zaporizhzhia, and evacuate to Poland to a house near Wroclaw. A local charity provided housing and support to Lilia and several other families.
Time passed, and Liliya and the children missed Ukraine more and more. In July 2023, news came that Liliya's house was badly damaged by rockets. The neighboring house was completely destroyed. Also, some neighboring families began to return to Ukraine.
And now Lily has also decided to return. The family is ready to be accepted by the Christian community in the village of Shcherbynivka in Cherkasy Oblast. At first, the family will live in a temporary house, and then several foundations intend to build a separate house for Lilia and her 7 children.
The "Happy Child" charitable foundation, as a continuation of the "Children's Ecovillage" project, also participates in the creation of a new home for the family. First of all, we plan to pay for the trip to Ukraine (it will cost from 600 to 1000 euros), as well as the purchase of the necessary furniture and household appliances (washing machine, refrigerator, microwave oven, etc.). All this will work immediately after returning to the temporary house, and then move to the new house.
Next, we announce a collection for the design and construction of a new house for Lilia. This house and plot of land will be owned by the family and not rented out. This will allow the family to finally have their home and land, and have more confidence in the future. The estimated construction price is 50,000 - 70,000 USD.
