Yushchenko’s wife collects money for children’s hospital

Charitable Fund “Ukraine-3000”, headed by the Kateryna Yushchenko the wife of the President of Ukraine, managed to collect UAH 250.228 million during TV-marathon for the construction of a new children’s hospital near Kiev.

According to her, 15 TV channels participated in this marathon; 8 million TV viewers watched it. UAH 2.700 million from this sum were got as a result of sms action.

“This project showed that we can join for the sake of children’s health. This action showed that we are real Europeans,” Yushchenko said.

Meanwhile the councilor of the President’s wife Andry Myroshnychenko admitted that the collected money is not enough for hospital’s construction. Approximately UAH 350 million are needed, which the Fund will seek in the USA, Canada and Germany.

Myroshnychenko reminded that by the end of 2009 the Fund intends to collect funds for construction of the modern pedagogical hospital for 250 children where ontological diseases will be treated. Area of a new hospital will make 40 thousand square meters.
