Children Need A Family: Kostia K., born in 1997; Galina K., born in 1999; Victoria K., Born in 1999

A person just can’t have a hundred of brothers and sisters. Even having twenty of them is not very probable. Try and remember your own school years: why would you perceive all your classmates as siblings? The only thing is that the children from boarding and orphanage facilities not just study together – they also sleep, spend free time as well as all weekends and holidays together. They share a lot of stuff. But this does not make them relatives. Vice versa, I heard from foster parents that their children are not very much eager to maintain contact with their ex “brothers” and “sisters” and to remember their lives in orphanages.

It has always been interesting for me to watch real brothers and sisters who stay at the same facility. Their relations may be very diverse! Some of them maintain close contact, expressing a lot of care and attention, others have more issues with each other, and some of them are just indifferent to their sibling, not distinguishing him or her from dozens of other children. Nevertheless, they are usually a subject of envy: they have at least one soul mate!

Kostia, Galina, and Victoria are staying in the same orphanage. Sometimes they just live their own lives, but occasionally they come to remember that they have no one closer than each other. Kostia remembers it more often: first, he is the elder brother, so he's got to be more responsible and serious, second, he’s a boy, and his sisters sometimes need physical protection; besides, he is very shy: he tries to hide his big arms, eyes, has trouble with giving a confident answer to a question, and keeps many of his emotions deep inside.

Kostia

As for the girls, they are both lively and sporty. They love dancing, playing basketball, drawing and are fond of doing crafts. They also try not to lose the sight of each other: who knows what may happen?

Other children who dream of finding a family

If for some reason you are currently not able to adopt (for example, you are a student and do not have a family of your own yet) you are still able to help children at a boarding school (an orphanage) with your financial support. Ways you can help include: planning and participating in excursions and trips for children; visiting a child in an orphanage; or helping purchase developmental toys, books, construction sets, and sports equipment.
