Last year in Moscow the head of the Neurooncology Department of the Federal Research- Clinical Center of Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology Ms.Zheludkova consulted Margaret Khokhlova to have a PET test in the Institute of The Human Brain (St.Petersburg) to clarify the nature of the ongoing process in Margaret`s brain. Margaret has been worried since they have not been able to diagnose what she has in her brain- either an inflammatory abscess or a benign tumor. Study on PET is very informative because this new technique is more accurate than a usual tomography. It is based on emission of positrons which can penetrate into those parts of a body that cannot be studied by computers or other devices.

Study on PET is supposed to answer to Margaret`s question and help finally to determine the tactics of further treatment for Margaret. Unfortunately, Margaret cannot have a PET test in Ukraine since there is no proper equipment there.
A PET test in St.Petersburg is scheduled on the 11th of April, 2011. The cost of the test is 16,000 Russian rubles. Our Russian partners from The Moscow Charitable Foundation `Give life` have volunteered to pay off the test for Margaret for which we are very thankful to them!
But Margaret needs to make it to St.Petersburg. Fortunately, thrifty Margaret`s mother Tatyana saved 2,700 hryvnias which were donated by our readers in January, 2011 for medical treatment of Margaret. 1300 hryvnias of those remainings were enough to buy a one-way ticket for Margaret from Zaporozhye to St.Petersburg. But she needs more money for her trip to Moscow. After having the test she should show its results to Dr.Zheludkova who is consulting Margaret and can determine Margaret`s treatment according to test results. Also, she needs money for her trip back home to Zaporozhye from Moscow. Total cost of the tickets is about 3,000 hryvnias.
In this case train tickets are expenses for medical treatment. We ask you to help to raise the necessary amount until the 10th of April, 2011! Besides Margaret there are two more children in the family and they cannot collect the money themselves.
Thank you very much to everyone who helps!
