=====================================

That unfortunate January morning, student Aleksandr Boronin thought that nothing bad could ever happen to him. The New Year celebrations were behind and he has just defended his graduation paper in Mariupol Motor Transport School – he had the best paper in class. At last he would be able to help and support his mother, who had been raising her son on her own. The life was full of joy…

It is so opposite to what he has to face today – inability to manage his own body, inability to control its basic functions. Inability to live the life he used to. Inability to help his mother… One moment turned the lives of the boy and his mother upside down.

To help Aleksandr survive, we need to raise USD 1900 within a month.

The road accident took place in Kuibyshevo on 15 January 2016. The boy was transported to the ICU of Kuibyshevo District Hospital with a diagnosis of brain contusion and lower jaw bone fracture. Due to traumatic shock, Aleksandr could be transported to Zaporozhye only next day. As soon as he was brought to the Fifth City Hospital, he had a surgery to remove the ruptured spleen, and afterwards he stayed in the ICU, his state being severe (doctor Sergey Feskov, tel. +38-061-23-42-167).

On 19 January, when the boy failed to recover his senses, he went through brain, cervical spine and thoracic segment imaging and was diagnosed with fractures of 1st and 2nd cervical vertebras, fractions of the thoracic section, lung and heart concussion. Thought the boy could breathe on his own, he was connected to artificial respirator again and was artificially maintained in the sleepy state not to harm himself with his movements. He had to wear a firm cervical collar, and doctors made a decision to bring the boy out of his sleepy state only on 29 January and he regained his senses to the great joy of the boy’s mother and all of his friends. He was transferred to the Neurosurgery Department of the same hospital (doctor Aleksey Larin). But in Zaporozhye there were no specialists to perform the surgery on cervical vertebra, so on 11 February 2016 Aleksandr was transported to the Vertebrology Department of Sytenko Institute of Spine and Joint Pathology in Kharkiv, where Professor Vladimir Radchenko (Vice Director of the Institute, tel. +38 (057) 715-63-05) and his attending physician Aleksandr Levshin (+38 (057) 704-14-67, +38 (067) 573-30-14) are getting him ready for the surgery. The computer diagnostics held on 15 February 2016 allowed modeling a construction needed for the surgery. The implant will be manufactured in the USA. Its cost is over UAH 50,000.

Aleksandr’s mother, who raises her boy alone, has not got the money to cover all the expenses, so she really needs your help. Colleagues and friends have already spent over UAH 60,000 for the boy’s treatment.

Aleksandr’s mother Oksana really needs your support today to save her only son. The family is not able to collect such an amount of money alone, so let’s give them our helping hands: fifty, twenty, ten or even five dollars may give the boy a chance to become a healthy man and his mother to regain her purpose in life.

The family lives in the village of Rozovka in Zaporozhye oblast.
