Kolya (Nikolai), like no one else, needs support, permanent care and custody. He cannot walk or eat by himself. Without nurses’ assistance he turns into a completely helpless little kid, every moment fighting for his right for life.
Kolya tries to take all items in his mouth and taste them. That's how he learns the world. The boy likes to play with musical toys, especially he enjoys the sound of rattles and maracas. Thus, he calms down and even lulls himself in the evenings.
Because of his disabilities Kolya can’t play with other kids. He has to lie on the floor or in bed constantly and silently watch other kids play. He does not respond to the TV and rarely leaves the walls of his room, which became his home.
Sometimes something like a smile appears on Kolya’s face. At such times it seems that he travels to some unknown to us worlds created by his imagination.
Every night, he falls asleep embracing his favorite plastic rattle, which he keeps in his right hand even when he rests. Just think, he could be much happier falling asleep in the strong arms of a loving mom and dad who will do their best to facilitate his life.
Nikolai is a child with special needs.
If you are interested in adopting this child or other children, please read the memo to the potential adoptive parents, guardians, and foster parents; you can also contact Children’s Affairs' service of the Zaporozhia State Administration by telephone (061) 239-01-56 and refer to the profile number of Nikolai - 0060824.
Other children who dream of finding a family
If for some reason you are currently not able to adopt (for example, you are a student and do not have a family of your own yet) you are still able to help children at a boarding school (an orphanage) with your financial support. Ways you can help include: planning and participating in excursions and trips for children; visiting a child in an orphanage; or helping purchase developmental toys, books, construction sets, and sports equipment.
