Sergey finally has his loving family now! He'll live in the USA!
"Do you have a family?" - is a question that Sergey asks every new guest. Because a family is his biggest dream. And when one of the children was adopted and taken away by his new parents, Sergey was sullen and uncommunicative for a few weeks, because nobody came for him. Until now.
Sergey has feet problems, and therefore someone once decided that’s why he will not be able to learn. The boy is in a place where some kids will never be really able to read and write. But he is not so!
The guy catches everything on the fly and so after a couple of days of communication with English-speaking volunteers he can answer them with some simple phrases. Sergey can count in English and name animals. At the same time in Russian he can only syllable. And, most likely, this is due to the lack of time of the caregiver for permanent individual lessons, but not because of his inability to ever learn how to read fast.
Sergey likes to draw and make crafts from beads. In his group he is one of a few children allowed to sit longer at the TV, because he is an “adult”. Because it is urgently necessary to complete some bead crafts and start doing new ones. Or learn a new method of beading. I’m an adult but I do not have a lot of patience for such a laborious occupation.
Sergey is a very romantic young man. It has long been clear to me. A year ago, he told me with affection about a girl he met in the camp and chatted every day, but, unfortunately, she did not leave him her phone number. Last year, he was crying the whole night, because the student-intern Anastasia was gone, and he was so much in love with her. Then he called her back using the phone of his caregiver for many days. However, he got over it as soon as some new female visitors appeared.
Sergey is a very loving guy. Each new guest in his orphanage receives from him a picture signed by either "Mom" or modest "love".
While other children playing in the sand and riding on a swing, Sergey is engaged in weeding flower beds. Even sitting in a wheelchair. Because he wants to help. And he wants to be noticed. That's what he said, when asked why he started making beaded trees.
To be noticed, to be appreciated, to be loved. To be found and taken to a real home by Mom and Dad. Because, even while living in comfortable conditions in a small group, Sergey is getting sadder. After all, his mother has not come for him. However, he said that we must be able to wait to get what we want. Sometimes he gets to convince himself. One will fulfill the desire. Surely. After all, he knows how to wait.
